The purpose of this study is to examine the changing process through the experiences as a protagonist in psychodramas and to propose a substantial theory. In-depth interviews were conducted with ten adult participants who participated in psychodramas as protagonist more than three times. Collected data were analyzed with a grounded theory approach. One hundred twenty three concepts, forty subcategories, and fourteen categories were deducted. The result of the study showed that the central phenomenon is the actualizing the self by unfolding body. The causal conditions were the protagonists¡¯ spontaneous participation, self-disclosure, trust toward the group and directors. The contextual conditions were the personal contact and group cohesion. Action insight, facilitating action, various techniques and enaction were found for the interaction strategies. The here and now flow, playing, and catharsis were deducted for the mediation conditions. As a result, the growth and changing were deducted. The implication of this study is to suggest the treatment and intervention of psychodrama by deducting the therapeutic factors of psychodramas¡¯ protagonists from their experiences and presenting the paradigm model of factor interaction. Finally, a study on the unsuccessful experiences of the protagonists, directors and groups is suggested for the future research.
